Privacy policy

This policy describes the T5 Draft Writer firmware and this project website, maintained by BetskoN. The Google Drive integration is currently being prepared for public use.
What Google access is requested?
Google Drive backup is optional. Linking takes you to Google's own page to sign in and approve access. T5 Draft Writer does not receive your Google password.
The app requests drive.file: permission to create and manage the specific Drive files used with this app. It does not request access to your entire Drive, Gmail, contacts or Google account profile.
What is sent, and where?
When you select Drive as a copy destination, the typewriter sends the draft title and text directly to Google over an encrypted connection. Copies are plain text files inside a Drafts folder in your own Drive. File metadata includes a device identifier and draft title so the typewriter can find and update its copies.
The device stores its own Google authorization so it can upload later without repeated sign-in. Authorization is not sent to a project-operated backup server. The current integration does not send manuscripts to the project operator, advertising services or AI services. Writing is not used to train AI models.
Google processes information under its own policies. The project operator may see aggregate usage and error information in Google's developer console; that does not itself provide manuscript content or access to your private Drive files.
How long are copies kept?
Device authorization remains until you unlink it, erase the relevant device settings, or Google expires or revokes it. Draft copies remain in their chosen destinations until you delete them. Unlinking does not delete writing.
How can I remove access or writing?
Use Unlink Google Drive on the typewriter's setup page to remove the locally stored authorization. The device also attempts to revoke it with Google. You can independently remove access using your Google Account's third-party connections settings.
Delete copies in Google Drive, or explicitly choose the typewriter's Drive deletion option. The current firmware's Delete from Drive action permanently deletes matching app-managed copies rather than moving them to Trash. Local, SD and NAS copies are controlled separately.
Local, SD and NAS storage
Writing saves locally on the typewriter. Optional SD and NAS copies go to destinations you configure and do not require Drive. People with access to the device or those destinations may be able to read the writing. Google authorization is stored in device flash; the current firmware does not promise protection against someone with physical access to that storage.
This website and support
This website has no manuscript upload, advertising tracker or project-added analytics. Its hosting and network providers may process ordinary connection information, such as IP address and request details, to deliver and secure the pages. If you email support, your email address and message are processed to respond; do not send passwords or authorization tokens.
Use of Google data
T5 Draft Writer's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Google data is used to provide the backup features described here, not sold or used for advertising.
